UPDATE:
2/22/03
* Ground
coffee -- My friend bought me a French press in Samarkand
for six bucks!
* Crunchy Peanut Butter -- I'm
not getting a lot of protein out here.
* Good books -- Sometimes I
have a lot of free time in my village.
* Good music -- CD's or tapes.
* Blank journals
* Pictures of anything American
* Fun candles -- Many nights,
I don't have electricity.
* AA Batteries
* Books or guides on CONSTELLATIONS
-- Out in my village, the sky is huge, and the stars are amazing.
I just wish I knew what I was looking at.
* Your old magazines, anything with lots
of pictures in them -- I can't draw to very well, so
I use pictures from magazines to make visual aids for my lessons.
* Moist towelettes/Wet Wipes
-- anything of this sort that I can use to clean my face when the
water supply is low.
* Kleenex and handkerchiefs
* Good pens -- I like Pilot
G-2's, but even good old BIC's are better than what they've got
out here.
* Board games, all kinds --
used are fine. I would like to start a game night with the kids
in my village. Anything you all are not using would be great. UNO,
Monopoly, Connect Four, Cards, Concentration, Risk, etc.... Nothing
is too elementary. Check your basements!
What I will need most of all is letters. I promise I will
respond to every hand-written letter I get. You might even get some
cool stamps out of it. Write me lots of letters and keep me updated
on the goings-on in your lives and whatever crazy adventures have
come your way.
